Within Tholt-y-Will Glen, Fynn and other trollets are having a lesson in spell-creating with Mannannan, when Fynn and Shade start a fight. Mannannan stops the fight, and Saffire calms Fynn down. Then, Ynkragg'll appears and takes Saffire, after injuring Fynn. After healing Fynn, Mannannan tells Fynn the story of the River Serpent and then tells him that only the legendary sword, Equeshryn, can defeat the serpent. Mannannan takes Fynn and Shade with him him to find the sword, leaving a forest troll to look after the glen...
